9 -iniziare a lavorare-
Nota d'usoL'espressione iniziare a lavorare non va tradotta letteralmente con “to start to work”. La locuzione corretta è “to start work” perché, in questo caso, “work” è usato come sostantivo: Ho iniziato a lavorare alle nove, I started work at nine (non I started to work at nine). “To start to work” significa invece iniziare a funzionare. Quando “to start” è seguito da un verbo, questo può essere sia un infinito che una forma in -ing. Si preferisce usare l'infinito quando “to start” è coniugato in un tempo progressivo: Sto iniziando a imparare un po' di italiano, I'm starting to pick up some Italian; e in presenza di verbi stativi: Ho iniziato a capire i miei errori, I started to see my mistakes. -
